It is important that people with learning disabilities and autism have the same access to arts and culture that many people take for granted. The often invisible barriers that can come from attitudes and a lack of reasonable adjustments reinforces the isolation felt by many people. The arts, by using public money should shoulder the responsibility to be welcoming to all from artists to participants to audiences and a cohesive partnership based approach is the only way real effective change can occur.
