leweslight community interest company – we deliver a community festival aiming to be fully inclusive
Our organisation delivers an annual arts festival and associated events working with the medium of light. We investigate culture and community through explorations with public spaces, landscape, architecture and the environment. Our event is free for all and open to all. We aim to be as inclusive and accessible as we can. As part of the festival we work with students young people and educational institutions to provide learning experiences and work experience as part of the delivery of the event. We recognise the power of multi-sensory experiences for all, but especially for those with some disabilities, learning difficulties and sensory impairment, we endeavour to create work that is in particular inclusive for these groups. We work with educators and a special needs school to facilitate the inclusion of children with special needs in the development of our work to provide an opportunity for them to take part in the process of creating an installation as well as enjoying and learning from the event as visitors. We feel our aspirations align with the Manifesto and wish to support this important initiative.
